Welcome to her Little Ways! My name is Valerie. I am a Roman-Catholic, 40-something wife and mother to three, living on 1-acre in a rural setting subdivision, located in east-central Kansas.
About Me
I'm just a girl, in love with the Lord, striving to be the best daughter, wife, and mother I can be...doing all things ordinary with extraordinary love for Jesus.
gardening with my three sweet peas! I currently have 4 raised planting beds in our "kitchen garden". Each year our garden and landscaping design changes a bit to accommodate more garden-to-table produce. Last year we added 3 varieties of apple trees.
the beach We vacation down at the Gulf of Mexico every summer. Only the condo changes! This year we are going to try something new...the Atlantic Coast of Florida.

I am a farmer's-wife-wannabe, but a fireman's wife in reality! :)
I am smitten with country living. We built our home, a Greek-Revvial style farmhouse in 2002, and I love to make our house a home. I believe that our homes should be a safe-haven from the rest of the world! A place where strong marriages and healthy families are loved and nurtured.

old-fashioned flowers,
mason jars,
and preppy clothing! Thus, a "preppy farmgirl!"
Why her Little Ways?
Why her Little Ways? The inspiration for the title came to me after I read an article about the life of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, popularly known as the Little Flower. St. Thérèse believed that the path to holiness for us all lies in doing “ordinary tasks with extraordinary love.” Thus, her “Little Way."
If you are new to my blog, I invite you to follow along. I hope that after visiting here, you are filled with the desire to nurture yourself and your loved ones by doing ordinary tasks with extraordinary love!

sewing...I have a basic Singer School Model that I received as a gift from my parents for my 30th birthday! It rocks. It's solid, heavy, and has little in the way of fancy stitches or gadgets. Perfect for the novice seamstress in me! I've only had to have it serviced for annual tune-ups...and every time the dear elderly gentleman that works on the machine tells me to never get rid of it!
My favorite thing to sew...aprons! I have an entire Pinterest Board dedicated to them. :)
